Use several inspection stages
1. Incoming material inspection

2. First-piece or pilot review

3. In-line inspection
Inspect work during cutting, sewing, assembly and finishing. In-line inspection should focus on process risks and recurring defects. The purpose is corrective action, not simply counting problems after the work has moved to the next stage.
4. Final random inspection
When the order is complete and substantially packed, review the agreed sample quantity for appearance, measurements, function, assortment, labels and cartons. If the buyer uses an AQL plan, the inspection level and acceptance limits should be agreed before the inspection—not selected after defects are found.
